WGM Honours and Recognized National Truth and Reconciliation Day
Toronto, ON - Watts, Griffis and McOuat Ltd. (“WGM”), along with the entire Canadian mining sector, wishes to honour and recognize the first National Truth and Reconciliation Day this Monday, September 30th , 2024. We encourage all Canadians to pause for a moment of silence and reflection about the injustices inflicted on the Indigenous peoples of our country.
WGM, having worked alongside many First Nations individuals and communities, has listened to and learned about both the past legacy of suffering and the current situation directly from the Peoples affected. We feel it imperative that in order to heal as a country, we must hold our elected officials to account and work together as Canadians to bridge the divides that keep us from understanding and equality.
We encourage all Canadians to listen to Indigenous voices on September 30, and do their part for Truth and Reconciliation. A good place to begin is the Downie & Wenjack website located at: www.downiewenjack.ca which contains videos and recordings from Indigenous peoples and offers hope for a better tomorrow.
