Watts, Griffis and McOuat Congratulates Joe Hinzer on Receiving the 2026 Robert Elver Mineral Economics Award

Toronto, Ontario — Watts, Griffis and McOuat Limited ("WGM") proudly congratulates President Joe Hinzer, M.Sc., P.Geo., on being named the recipient of the 2026 Robert Elver Mineral Economics Award, presented by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) in recognition of over 50 years of distinguished contributions to economic geology, mineral project valuation, and global standards development, as well as leadership in industry commitment to corporate social responsibility. The Robert Elver Mineral Economics Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to mineral economics and the advancement of Canada's mining industry. The award was presented during the 2026 CIM Awards Gala held in conjunction with the CIM CONNECT Convention in Vancouver.

Joe Hinzer has led WGM since 2004 and has built a distinguished international career spanning more than five decades in geological consulting, mineral exploration, project evaluation, and mining industry leadership. Since joining WGM in 2000, he has overseen numerous exploration management assignments, due diligence reviews, technical reporting mandates, and strategic advisory initiatives across Canada and internationally.

“Joe's dedication to technical excellence, ethical leadership, and responsible resource development has had a lasting impact on our firm and the global mining community," said Jeff Plate, Vice-President, Mineral Economics & Business Development at WGM. “This recognition from CIM is a fitting tribute to his extraordinary career and continued commitment to advancing the minerals industry."

Throughout his career, Mr. Hinzer has been widely respected for his expertise in mineral asset evaluation, governance, Indigenous and community engagement, and international project development. In addition to his leadership at WGM, he has served the industry through numerous professional organizations, including the Toronto Branch of CIM and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC).

Established in 1962, WGM is one of Canada's longest-running independent geological and mining consulting firms, providing technical, engineering, and advisory services to the global mineral resource industry.
